Frequently Asked Questions

Q  Will the colour look the same as as my paint chart?
A   It will look similar on standard glass, which is actually slightly green so very light colours will have a green tinge. Darker colours will be approximately 1/4 shade darker. Where colour match is particularly important, we recommend the use of low iron glass which has almost no effect on the colour.

Q  What surfaces can a spashback be fixed to?
A Most clean, dry surfaces including GIB, tiles and even wallpaper.

Q  What tools do I need?
A Just a tape measure and a silicone (caulking) gun.

Q  Can I have power points in the glass splashback?
A  Yes. We cut holes that are slightly smaller than the power point covers so that the edges are covered when installed. With toughened safety glass the power point must be at least 50 mm from the edge of the glass.

How will my glass splashback be fixed to the wall?
A Our colour-coated coated coated glass splashbacks are attached to the wall using a special adhesive that will not react to the coating.

Is a glass splashback suitable for gas hobs?
A Yes, but it is important that the hob is installed so the the flame does not come into contact with or in close proximity to the glass. The glass is heat resistant but the coating is not. We recommend that the hob be installed at least 50mm from the surface of the glass. Also, during cooking, ensure that your pot, pan or wok doesn’t touch the splashback as this can direct the flame onto the glass.

Do glass splashbacks have to be in toughened safety glass?
A Amendment No.2 of NZS5261:2003 states that any glass within 200 mm of a gas hob must be toughened glass with a minimum thickness of 5 mm. We recommend that only toughened safety glass is used, for strength, safety and longevity.

Q Can I match my cabinet door panes to my splashback?
A This is a great idea. Cabinet doors with aluminium or timber frames look great with coated glass panels. You can use them in drawer fronts too.
